A CANDIDATE’S ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF PRINCIPLES
I, as a candidate for a position in government of public service within the United States of America and within my respective sovereign State, for which I am seeking the support and votes of my constituents, I hereby acknowledge the following principles:
THAT God Almighty has granted to all persons certain inalienable rights and that among these rights are life, liberty and the pursuit of one’s own happiness, using the gifts, talents, means and abilities which God has granted;
THAT certain persons gather together into society for each one’s own security, advantage, utility, peace and function to pursue the ends of happiness for each person;
THAT society is of its nature voluntary and civil, and not of force, so that freedom and the benefits of society may be perpetuated to each generation as each deems fit for their own happiness and security;
THAT society may institute government by agreement to secure each one’s and the collective civil and natural rights and freedoms while that society is united for the purposes for which they have gathered;
THAT the government possesses no power, right or authority except as society grants it with expressed consent;
THAT government is strictly bound to the limitations set forth within the compact society formed;
THAT attempts by those within government to act outside its limitations is an act of infidelity against the society granting it authority and against God, as the ultimate Judge and Ordainer of authority, and commits an egregious act against the trust of that society;
THAT it is the duty of all within government to study, learn and know the principles derived from human nature and the principles forming the particular society and compact, from which their authority derives;
THAT a particular society has the natural right to abolish, quit, amend or alter any form or substance of government which that society believes has become destructive to the ends of government and society, with the Supreme Judge of the world possessing ultimate appeal for the rectitude of that society’s intentions.
